Apartment For Marc
Apartment for Marc, on the third floor of a new building in Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens, was designed with the artist Marc Camille Chaimowicz. It was the artist’s home and workspace, and it was left deliberately unfinished: walls of bare plaster, trompe-l’oeil skirting, to be finished through living in it.
We printed the artist’s designs onto Formica for the doors and cabinetry. We arranged the rooms so that reclining in the bath frames the trees of the park and the city beyond.
The flat blurred art and life before it was ever lived in. In 2017 the artist built a full-scale version of the apartment as an installation, One to One…, at the Kestner Gesellschaft in Hanover; the design then returned to London and became his home.
