Community

Rooted in collaboration and an understanding of place, our community work seeks to create spaces which embody an intersectional ethos and respond to neighbourhoods meaningfully; not parachuting in, but collaborating and listening.

Nyth is a community project which develops architecture from a grassroots standpoint, delivering a vibrant performing arts, rehearsal and community space. Highly commended in the 2025 MacEwen Awards, the judges said “Manalo & White seem to have truly worked with and listened to young people to create something special for them.”

Colvestone Corner is a proposed retrofit, repurposing a Grade II listed school by transforming it into multi-use hub for community culture. Developed through collaboration with local organisations, designers, and activists, it’s a project which is built on a deep connection to place, helping to deliver an architectural response which enacts spatial justice and provides support for sustained modes of community wealth building.

Providing spaces for people to converge is an essential catalyst for any community. Architecture is as much about the interpersonal as it is about the building, shaping networks of support which allow people to feel comfortable and ultimately take pride in their neighbourhood.
