Rooted in the rich history of its retained Art Deco façade on Huntingdon Street in Nottingham, our interior design for the amenity spaces in this 293-bed scheme reinvents a space which once served as a coach depot and later as a vibrant arcade and pool hall known as Playland.
Echoing the heritage of the site, the design incorporates the bold shapes, rich colour palettes and textured materiality characteristic of Art Deco. Rounded forms and geometric patterns nod to transport aesthetics, while elements of arcade-inspired graphics and illumination bring a playful sense of nostalgia.
We carefully balanced energetic social and entertainment areas with serene study and gym spaces, offering residents a dynamic yet calming environment, complemented by considered external amenities. By subdividing spaces we introduced a personal scale, fostering a sense of comfort and community.
