Our Welsh slate clad house extension in Hackney has won ‘best use of materials’ at 2018’s Don’t Move Improve! Awards. The awards showcase London’s best and most innovative new home extensions.

We’re now working with the British Veterinary Association on the redevelopment of their headquarters in central London. The Grade 2* listed Robert and James Adam building will be transformed, to create a modern and welcoming place for BVA staff, members and visitors.

Competition entry for “Eyecatcher” installation in the Meadow at Compton Verney Art Gallery. An extended greenhouse, growing fruiting plants and herbs, with a central sheep’s-wool-insulated parlour for making ice cream and sorbets.

Proposal for re-use of Hackney Downs bowling green and pavilion, for a new community garden and cafe.

Planning permission has been granted for our scheme to incorporate a 39-room boutique hotel into Camden Methodist Chapel. A new structure will be inserted into the historic brick envelope, retaining a church and community space on the lower levels.

As part of Milton Keynes’ 50th birthday celebrations, Milton Keynes Arts Centre invited 50 designers and artists to create plates for their annual fundraiser. Funds raised will help deliver the centre’s outreach programme, targeting those with little or no access to the arts. We dusted our plate with pink and blue chalk.

I Want! I Want! - Art and Technology a contemporary art exhibition within the historic Gas Hall at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery opened this month. Design by Manalo & White and Fraser Muggeridge studio. Works selected date from the mid-1990s to the present day and are drawn from the Arts Council Collection, Birmingham’s museum collection and other public and private collections.

As a first step towards the transformation of the Horsebridge Arts Centre in Whitstable, Manalo & White designed a pop-up cinema for 2016’s Biennale. Exploring alternative ways of using the building, we opened up an unused staircase, to direct cinema-goers on a new route to the top floor. Between screenings, a projected view of the seafront suggested the potential for future views and new ways of relating to the town.
