iQ Cullen House

We designed Cullen House’s interiors to feel residential, not institutional, with a base palette of materials that looks and feels durable, so students feel free to relax, rearrange and inhabit the space as their own.

Bespoke joinery, graphic surfaces, and artwork collections draw from Glasgow’s gridiron layout and sandstone palette, Local references, including reimagined tiled artworks inspired by Wally Closes and playful Irn-Bru label motifs, give students an immediate sense of belonging and identity.

The communal zones cover the full energy spectrum: silent study areas, relaxed lounges, co-working and wellness zones and kinetic, high-energy spaces such as the arcade and karaoke room. Private dining is a popular space in a building of predominantly studio flats, and we provided a range of moods that can be opened up or subdivided to suit both student uses and organised events. An informal and energetic Diner is a space to eat takeaway food in an informal setting which overlooks the buzz and activity of the Electric Lounge, a versatile gaming space that houses pool tables and ping pong as well as arcade gaming.
