Methodist Church House
We converted Egmont House, a late-1920s former Birkbeck College building on Tavistock Place in Bloomsbury, into the new headquarters of the Methodist Church: offices for 100 staff, meeting suites and a roof terrace, with a new lift core threaded through the existing structure.
A heat pump, 30 solar panels and new windows raised the building’s energy rating from E to A, and materials from the Church’s previous headquarters on Marylebone Road were reused wherever possible. The Aldersgate room keeps a stained-glass design by Nicholas Mynheer, adapted from the old offices.
